A building envelope is the physical separation between a building’s interior environment and exterior conditions. It typically includes exterior walls, roofs, windows, doors, foundations, insulation, air barriers, vapour-control layers, waterproofing systems, joints and interfaces. These components must work together to manage water, air, heat and moisture while protecting the building and its occupants.
